Summary
CX.net is a free collection of Customer Experience questions and answers. You do not need an account to use it. We show ads from Google AdSense and measure use of the site with Google Analytics; both involve cookies and similar technologies on your device. Your search terms are processed on our own servers and are not passed to any other provider for that purpose.
Visiting the website and server log files
When you visit the website, technically necessary data is processed and stored in server log files: IP address, date and time, requested address (including the search term, as it is part of the address), HTTP status code, amount of data transferred, the previously visited page (referrer), and browser and operating system.
This processing serves to deliver the website and to keep it secure and stable, for example to defend against attacks and to analyse errors. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in these purposes. Log files are stored only as long as necessary for these purposes and are deleted afterwards. Where we use technical service providers (hosting) to operate the servers, they process the data solely on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR).
Search queries
When you use the search box, your search term is sent to our server and answered from our own search index running on our own infrastructure. The term is not transmitted to any third party for this purpose. Because the term forms part of the address of the results page, it appears in our server log files and is also transmitted to Google as part of the page address through the advertising and analytics services described below. Please do not enter personal data, such as names, addresses or phone numbers, as a search term. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.
The question-and-answer pages the search leads to are prepared by us in advance and contain no data about you.
Technically necessary cookies
The website itself sets two technically necessary cookies: a session cookie and a security token (XSRF-TOKEN) that protects against cross-site request forgery. Both are needed for the website to function and to remain secure; storing them is strictly necessary for the service you requested (Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG). They expire at the end of your session or shortly afterwards.
Web analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"), to understand how the website is used and to improve it. In particular, the pages visited — on results pages including your search term —, time and duration of the visit, the previously visited page, information about your browser and device, and your approximate location are recorded. For this, Google stores cookies (for example "_ga") on your device. According to Google, Google Analytics does not store your IP address.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future; you can also prevent the storage of cookies in your browser settings. The data is deleted in Google Analytics after 14 months at the latest. Regarding transfers to the USA, what is said under "Advertising" applies. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.
Audience measurement
To evaluate the use of our websites statistically, every page loads a counting pixel from info.kv.de. In the process, your IP address and browser identification are processed briefly in memory in order to form an anonymous checksum together with a random value that changes daily. This allows us to count visits without recognising you. The IP address is not stored; the checksum is deleted after no more than 24 hours. Audience measurement sets no cookies and stores no data on your device. Only aggregated figures are stored (page views and visitors per day and domain). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring the reach of our services (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We finance CX.net through ads served by Google AdSense, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"). For this, your browser loads program code from Google. Google receives in particular your IP address, information about your browser and device, and the address of the page you visit — on results pages including your search term. Google may use cookies and similar technologies on your device to serve ads, measure their performance, prevent abuse and personalise ads.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future. Google may also transfer data to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR). More information: policies.google.com/technologies/ads and policies.google.com/privacy.
Web fonts
The pages load their typeface from Bunny Fonts, a service of BunnyWay d.o.o., Cesta komandanta Staneta 4A, 1215 Medvode, Slovenia. Your browser retrieves the font files from fonts.bunny.net, which requires transmitting your IP address to that provider. According to the provider, no cookies are set and no log files about visitors are kept. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in a consistent presentation of our pages.
Map on the contact page
Our contact page shows a map of our offices. It uses the Leaflet program library, which your browser loads from unpkg.com (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA), and map tiles from OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom). Both providers receive your IP address when the map is displayed. This only happens on the contact page. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in showing you how to find us.
Links to other websites
Our pages link to websites of other providers. When you click such a link, that provider's privacy policy applies. We have no influence over how those providers process your data.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) and data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object to the processing on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. To do so, contact us at the address above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the authority responsible for us: Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany.
No automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.
